On behalf of the Airport Management, Friends of Barton Aerodrome can arrange tours of the Airfield. The tour would be aimed at the specific needs of the group visiting. We are able to handle groups from schools, clubs, groups, avaition enthusiasts and family groups.
Because of Airport operations on the day, and also the size of the group, we cannot guarantee that all parts of the Aerodrome will be visited but we will always try to include parts that would be most interesting to the group. Areas visited on a tour could include at least some of the following; Grade II Buildings on site, aircraft hangars, Airport Rescue & Fire Service, main aircraft apron and the Heliport. Please note that due to restrictions the we cannot include Air Traffic at the top of the Control Tower, can include the viewing balcony.
In addition to a tour, our Guides can give information on the Airport History, Airport Operation, how aircraft flies, major parts of an aircraft and details on some of the interesting aircraft based here, again this will be aimed to meet the needs of the visiting group.
The Airport is currently only open Tuesday to Sunday from 9.00am to 6.00pm or sunset (whichever occurs first), hence all tours will need to be within this timescale.
Please note that for a person to attend an organised tour they must be aged 8 or above. Generally, tours are for a maximum of 24 people, if you have a large group please contact us and we can review possible options. Normally a fee of £2.00 per head is charged with a minimum total of £10.00 per tour. You are able to pay on the day of the tour based on the actual number on the tour.
Please note that all our Tour Guides are DBS checked.
Ideally, we request that you give at least 6 weeks notice for any tour and we will be in touch within a few days of a request to arrange your booking.
