We did not have much luck with our Fly-ins in 2025. Our first 2025 Fly-in at Barton Aerodrome was on Saturday 7th June. After the wonderful weather in Spring we were hit with numerous rain showers passing through during the morning. We did complete a number of tours of the hangars with resulted in donations for the based North West Air Ambulance. Our soul visitor by air was Cessna 150 G-BELT that came from Blackpool.

Our second Barton Aerodrome Fly-in was on Saturday 27th September. We had already moved it twice to try and avoid bad weather but although the weather was certainly flyable on the day, based aircraft were busy, we had no visitors by air. The Aerodrome did have one visitor in the shape of AA-5A G-JUDY that had arrived the previous afternoon. Once again our team was very busy with hangar tours with all donations going to the based North West Air Ambulance, in fact we
Here’s hoping that we can do better in 2026!

Below you will find information of previous Fly-ins which we have hosted at Barton
Fly-in – September 2024
Due to the poor weather for our 2024 Fly-in in June the management of Barton Aerodrome kindly agreed to a second Fly-in on Saturday 28th September.
The weather in the morning was fine with numerous sunny period but the clouds started to build up in the afternoon with raining arriving around 3.00pm. Regardless of this we were delighted to welcome 16 aircraft during the day. The first to arrive was EV-97 Eurostar G-CEGO which had flown in from Abbots Bromley. There was then a steady arrival of aircraft from as far a field as Lee-on-Solent (Piper PA28 G-SABA) and Beccles (Vans RV-7 G-RIDG). Our last arrival was Cessna 150 G-BELT from Blackpool.
We thank all the pilots that flew their aircraft into Barton that day for our Fly-in, below are photos of some of the visitors. We also thank the various visitors that made donations for the based North West Air Ambulance for hangar tours that we carried out throughout the day.

Fly-in June 2024
Friends of Barton Aerodrome (FoBA) held their earlier 2024 Fly-in over the weekend of June 8th and 9th. The weather was not as kind as in 2023 with gusty winds on the Saturday plus rain and low cloud on the Sunday.
A good number of aircraft had booked in for the Fly-in but the weather clearly had an impact with just five aircraft making on the Saturday and sadly none on the Sunday. Our first arrivals with Skyranger G-CFCK and Eurofox G-CKXM from Rossall followed by Jodel D119 G-ATJN from Wickenby and Alpi Pioneer G-CGTL from Turweston. All these had departed back to their home bases by the time Sport Cruiser G-OCRZ from Wolverhampton arrived.
A couple of arrivals from North Weald early evening were Cessna F172N G-BGND and Skyleader 400 OK-DUG36. Both these departed Sunday morning.
Here are a few photos from the day.

Details of our 2023 Fly-in
Our first arrival was G-CESZ a Sportcrusier that arrived from Northern Ireland on the Friday evening, with the crew camping by their aircraft over night. It was parked next to a Southern African registered Cirrus SR22 that had arrived a few days before and departed during Saturday to the Isle of Man.

Our first arrival on Saturday morning was the Minisport G-SJMW that had flown from an airstrip close to Inverness.

We are aware that over thirty aircraft had booked in so immediately started parking aircraft “tail to tail” in the Western Apron as this would allow visitors by road to see our visitors and watch the action. During the day we almost filled this apron and had a plan in place to extend parking around the Control Tower but as luck had it just as we thought we would need to use this area a visitor departed giving us a new parking slot to use. In total on Saturday we had 40 visitors by air. These ranged from flexwings, microlights, homebuilts, vintage and production aircraft. Photos of some of these are shown below.

Sunday was not so busy but we had a steady stream of aircraft throughout the day with our first arrival being G-CFFO a Quik GT450.

As we had less aircraft booked in on Sunday we were able to park the aircraft more normal on the Apron, the only one that slightly caused a problem was the Slingsby T61 Venture Motor Glider G-BUJB which with its large wing span was parked between parking slots. In total we had 17 new visitors on Sunday and some of these are shown in the photos below.

Over the weekend FoBA Members provided marshaling for the visiting aircraft as well as manning the airside gate and recording arrivals and departures. Our Stewards and Tour Guides offered a number of tours of this historic aerodrome including the hangars over both days.
Photos from earlier Fly-ins

Due to Covid we had no Fly-in during 2020 but below are some photographs from our successful 2019 event.

In addition to our own Fly-in, Friends of Barton Aerodrome (FoBA) also assists in other aviation related events at the Airport, including Fly-ins. In 2022 FoBA became proud owners of their own Gazebo and below you will see a photo of this together with FoBA Members that assisted with aircraft marshaling, airside control and airport tours. This photo is from the successful event held by the Lancashire Aero Club to celebrate their 100th Birthday in 2022.
